In June 2026, the ENERPAT team conducted a pre-sales technical consultation at a large metal recycling facility in Melbourne, Australia. The visit was led by ENERPAT's CEO, focusing on evaluating the customer's mattress and tire recycling operations, understanding current processing challenges, and discussing a more efficient shredding solution to improve material recovery and operational performance.
The customer is an established recycling company specializing in scrap metal recovery while also processing waste mattresses and end-of-life tires as part of its recycling business.
The recycling yard operates a wide range of heavy-duty equipment for vehicle recycling and scrap processing, demonstrating a strong commitment to high-performance machinery and long-term operational efficiency. Throughout the discussion, the customer repeatedly emphasized one purchasing principle:
"Pay for quality."
During the site inspection, the ENERPAT team identified two primary recycling challenges.
The customer currently pre-shreds waste mattresses, but the steel wire remains mixed with other materials and cannot be efficiently recovered. This results in large volumes of processed material being stockpiled while limiting the value of recyclable steel.
Recent regulatory changes require waste tires to be shredded before further recycling. As a result, using a tire baler alone is no longer sufficient, as tires must first be processed with a tire shredder before baling or downstream recycling. This shift has made tire shredding an essential step for maintaining compliant and efficient recycling operations.
Based on the customer's material characteristics and recycling objectives, ENERPAT recommended a Twin Shaft Shredder solution capable of processing both waste mattresses and tires.
During the consultation, the discussion focused on:
Improving shredding efficiency for bulky waste
Increasing steel wire liberation for higher recycling value
Supporting downstream separation processes
Optimizing long-term operating costs through reliable equipment design
The customer also discussed blade replacement and maintenance requirements, reflecting a strong focus on equipment durability and lifecycle costs.
One important point became clear during the meeting: before investing in any equipment, the customer prefers to inspect a working installation in person.
To support the evaluation process, ENERPAT will arrange a reference site visit where the customer can observe a similar machine operating under real production conditions.
The customer responded positively to ENERPAT's technical recommendations and expressed strong interest in moving forward with a complete Pocket Coils Recycling Line capable of processing both mattresses and recovering high-purity steel wire.
As the next step, ENERPAT will provide a tailored technical proposal and commercial quotation while arranging a visit to a reference installation. Following the on-site evaluation, both parties will continue technical discussions to finalize the equipment configuration and support the customer's planned investment in a high-quality recycling solution.
Every recycling operation presents unique challenges. By visiting customer facilities, ENERPAT engineers gain a clear understanding of actual production conditions, allowing us to recommend practical, application-specific recycling solutions.
From pre-sales technical consultation to equipment installation, commissioning, maintenance, and long-term service support, ENERPAT is committed to helping recyclers improve productivity, maximize material recovery, and build more efficient recycling operations worldwide.
