As part of ENERPAT’s commitment to providing direct, localized support across North America, our USA service team—led by senior technical leadership—recently performed an on-site visit to a precision metal manufacturing facility in Ashland, Ohio. Located just 40 minutes from ENERPAT’s Ohio warehouse and service hub, this facility processes large volumes of non-ferrous metals, primarily short brass turnings, copper swarf, and aluminum chip pucker materials.
The primary objective of this site visit was to evaluate current operational bottlenecks, review material handling efficiency, and propose an advanced Swarf Briquetting Press system integrated into a turnkey Metal Chips Recycling System to significantly boost compaction density and daily output.
During the facility walkthrough alongside the client's manufacturing engineers, our technical team conducted a comprehensive audit of their metal processing line. The plant currently operates three metallurgical units and a third-party compaction press. However, several operational constraints were severely limiting their expansion:
Their current setup processes aluminum swarf at 300–400 lbs/hour but lacks sufficient hydraulic force. The resulting briquettes are loose and structurally weak, causing substantial material spillage and dust loss during drop tests and storage. Replacing this unit with a high-tonnage Swarf Briquetting Press is critical to achieving dense, solid blocks.
Processing both aluminum chips and fine copper swarf through the same machine leads to cross-material contamination. Furthermore, the internal chamber geometry makes thorough cleanouts tedious during material batch changes.
Manual batch feeding hampers machine utilization, highlighting the need for a fully automated feed hopper and conveyor configuration attached to a dedicated aluminium chips briquetting machine.
To resolve cross-contamination, eliminate loose briquettes, and prepare the plant for long-term production growth, ENERPAT engineered a customized upgrade strategy centered around our industrial aluminum briquette machine technology:
Designing twin 2-cubic-meter centralized feed hoppers with automated dosing logic. This setup segregates copper swarf and aluminum materials, preventing cross-contamination and providing a steady material feed to the Swarf Briquetting Press.
Recommending a heavy-duty Swarf Briquetting Press equipped with an automated chip conveyor and discharge system. This solution delivers extreme pressing force, transforming loose metal fines into high-density blocks with zero spillage while scaling throughput capacity.
Looking ahead, ENERPAT outlined a phased plan to expand into a complete Metal Chips Recycling System, which will integrate shredding, centrifuging/de-oiling, and automated briquetting for long aluminum turnings as processing demands increase.
ENERPAT’s engineering office is finalizing 3D design drawings for the twin 2 m³ feed hoppers for customer verification.
Delivering final technical specifications and energy-efficiency calculations for the recommended high-density Swarf Briquetting Press.
The customer will bring sample metal swarf and chips to ENERPAT’s Ohio warehouse in late October for live trial runs, density verification, and drop-test validation on our demonstration aluminium chips briquetting machine.
This site visit underscores ENERPAT’s key edge in the North American market: unrivaled local service and technical support.
With our fully equipped service warehouse located in Ohio—just a 40-minute drive from the customer’s plant—ENERPAT offers fast on-site evaluations, rapid spare parts delivery, and hands-on commissioning. While many overseas machinery suppliers leave customers to independently assemble, debug, and repair complex Swarf Briquetting Press units, ENERPAT provides comprehensive end-to-end service, ensuring maximum uptime, optimum melt yields, and long-term operating confidence.
