Customer Visit Overview

In July 2026, the ENERPAT sales team conducted a pre-sales technical consultation with a Mexico-based industrial machinery supplier serving the automotive manufacturing industry.

The visit focused on evaluating a large-scale CNC aluminum chip recycling project for an automotive engine component manufacturer. The discussion covered production capacity, briquette specifications, coolant recovery, equipment layout, and future on-site engineering support to ensure the proposed solution would meet the customer's production requirements.

Customer Visit Overview

Customer Background

The customer is an industrial machinery and automation supplier supporting manufacturers in the automotive, precision machining, and metalworking industries throughout Mexico.

The project involves an automotive engine component manufacturer operating more than 350 CNC machining centers dedicated to machining aluminum cylinder head components. The production facilities are located in San Luis Potosí and Monterrey, generating approximately 6 tons of aluminum chips per hour that require efficient recycling and coolant recovery.

Project Background

Prior to the visit, ENERPAT had several rounds of technical discussions with the customer regarding the project requirements.

While the processing capacity was already defined, several critical engineering parameters—including acceptable residual coolant content, briquette dimensions, briquette weight, and available installation space—had not yet been confirmed. Without this information, it would have been difficult to develop an accurate equipment layout or recommend the most suitable system configuration.

To better understand the application and reduce unnecessary revisions during the engineering stage, ENERPAT arranged an on-site technical consultation.

On-Site Technical Consultation

During the meeting, ENERPAT presented detailed demonstrations of its high-capacity aluminum chip briquetting solution designed for continuous CNC machining operations.

The customer showed particular interest in the size and weight of the finished briquettes. Their initial preference was to keep each briquette below 15 kg, allowing operators to manually load the material into the melting furnace.

Based on the required processing capacity of approximately 6 tons per hour, ENERPAT explained that producing briquettes within this weight limit would likely require at least two parallel production lines to maintain the desired throughput.

Since the end user's investment budget has not yet been finalized, the customer confirmed that the project is still in its initial planning stage and that further evaluation is required before equipment selection.

Coolant Recovery Discussion

Recovering cutting fluid is one of the primary objectives of the project.

During the consultation, ENERPAT introduced the complete de-oiling and briquetting process, demonstrating the difference between conventional briquetting and briquetting with integrated coolant recovery. The team explained how reducing the residual coolant content in aluminum chips can improve material value while recovering reusable cutting fluid for production.

At this stage, however, the customer has not yet confirmed the end user's acceptable residual coolant level, making this one of the key technical parameters to be verified before finalizing the solution.

Layout Planning

The customer requested a preliminary equipment layout based on an available installation area of approximately 15 × 15 meters.

ENERPAT will prepare an initial layout proposal while awaiting confirmation of several key operating requirements, including:

  • Target briquette dimensions

  • Maximum briquette weight

  • Acceptable residual coolant content

  • Furnace feeding requirements

  • Material handling workflow

These details will allow the engineering team to optimize equipment configuration and plant layout.

Additional Technical Discussion

During the meeting, the customer also inquired about recovering cutting fluid from grinding sludge.

After reviewing the application, ENERPAT explained the technical challenges associated with processing this material and recommended excluding it from the current project scope due to its complex characteristics.

The discussion then shifted to aluminum chip conveying methods, where ENERPAT introduced its hopper-fed chip handling solution and explained its advantages in maintaining stable, continuous feeding for high-volume production.

Next Steps

Following the consultation, both parties agreed to continue technical discussions before finalizing the project.

The next steps include:

  • Confirming the required briquette dimensions with the end user

  • Verifying the maximum acceptable briquette weight

  • Determining the target residual coolant content

  • Preparing a preliminary layout based on the proposed installation area

  • Arranging a joint visit to the end user's production facilities in San Luis Potosí and Monterrey to conduct a detailed site assessment

Why ENERPAT Conducts On-Site Technical Consultations

Every recycling project presents unique production conditions, operational goals, and engineering challenges.

Rather than recommending equipment based solely on production capacity, ENERPAT works closely with customers to evaluate material characteristics, plant layout, downstream processes, and operational requirements before developing a customized recycling solution.

By conducting on-site technical consultations early in the project, ENERPAT helps customers reduce engineering risks, avoid unnecessary design changes, and ensure that every solution is built around real production needs rather than assumptions.
