Helping a California Plastic Recycler Plan Its Next Production Line

As demand for recycled plastics continues to grow across North America, many recycling companies are expanding their processing capacity to improve operational efficiency and increase the value of recovered materials.

To better understand the customer's production requirements, the ENERPAT sales team conducted an on-site technical consultation in Los Angeles, California, discussing future production planning, equipment selection and complete recycling line configuration for mixed plastic recycling.

Customer Background

The customer is a recycling company based in Los Angeles, California, established in 2012. The company specializes in collecting and processing recyclable materials from municipal solid waste and commercial & industrial waste streams.

Its primary business focuses on recovering and recycling mixed plastics, while also handling cardboard and metals. The existing facility already operates a plastic sorting, washing and recycling line, and the company is now preparing to build additional production capacity to support continued business growth.

Customer Requirements

During the meeting, the customer shared several key objectives for the new recycling project.

Capacity Expansion

The customer plans to invest in a new plastic recycling washing and pelletizing line within this year, targeting installation and commissioning in early next year.

Rather than replacing the existing system, the goal is to add a larger production line capable of supporting future capacity expansion.

Processing Materials

The planned recycling line will mainly process four common post-consumer plastic materials:

  • PET

  • HDPE

  • LDPE

  • PP

Because incoming feedstock is typically mixed plastic waste, the customer also expects the solution to include an efficient sorting process before washing and pelletizing.

Production Capacity Discussion

The customer requested technical recommendations and budget estimates for several production capacities, including:

  • 1 t/h

  • 2 t/h

  • 4 t/h

  • 6 t/h

Instead of providing a standard quotation immediately, ENERPAT explained that equipment configuration depends on the material condition, contamination level and required output quality.

Both parties agreed to arrange a follow-up online technical meeting with ENERPAT engineers to determine the most suitable solution.

On-Site Technical Discussion

During the visit, ENERPAT worked closely with the customer's management team to better understand the overall project requirements.

Topics discussed included:

  • Existing recycling workflow

  • Future production targets

  • Plant layout and available installation space

  • Equipment footprint

  • Capacity planning

  • Project implementation schedule

  • Budget expectations

The customer also requested preliminary layout drawings and equipment footprint information to support internal planning and investment evaluation.

Why the Customer Chose to Talk with ENERPAT

One reason the customer contacted ENERPAT was the company's local presence in Southern California.

After discovering ENERPAT's nearby service location online, the customer found that local technical support combined with competitive Chinese manufacturing offered an attractive long-term partnership opportunity.

Having previously worked with Chinese equipment suppliers, the customer expressed confidence in Chinese manufacturing quality, pricing and after-sales service, while also indicating interest in building a long-term cooperation for future recycling line projects.

Next Steps

Following the visit, ENERPAT will continue supporting the customer by providing:

  • Engineering consultation

  • Preliminary plant layout drawings

  • Capacity recommendations

  • Technical proposal

  • Budget quotation

  • Plastic recycling line videos and reference projects

  • Online engineering meeting for detailed process discussion

These activities will help the customer finalize equipment selection before moving into the project implementation stage.
