ENERPAT Conducts On-Site Tire Wire Baling Tests for North American Tire Recycling Application

As part of ENERPAT's ongoing technical support for the North American recycling industry, our engineering team recently welcomed a leading tire recycling company to our Ohio facility for an on-site material testing session.

The objective of the visit was to evaluate the baling performance of the AMB-H1075-250 Metal Baler when processing clean steel wire recovered from tire recycling operations, while discussing future production line integration and bulk feeding solutions.

Tire Wire Baling Tests

Understanding the Customer's Recycling Requirements

The customer specializes in tire recycling across North America and was looking for a reliable baling solution capable of handling high volumes of recovered tire steel wire.

During the visit, both teams focused on several key objectives:

  • Verify bale density and stability

  • Evaluate drop resistance during transportation

  • Discuss automatic feeding solutions

  • Review spare parts availability

  • Explore future production line integration

On-Site Material Testing with the AMB-H1075-250 Metal Baler

The material tested consisted of clean steel wire separated from tire recycling equipment, providing an ideal opportunity to evaluate bale quality under real operating conditions.

Test Equipment

During testing, five bales were produced, with two representative bales measured for density analysis.

Bale Size

Weight

266.7 × 266.7 × 292.1 mm

24.50 kg

266.7 × 266.7 × 279.4 mm

23.59 kg

The calculated average bale density reached approximately:

1.185 g/cm³

The customer was satisfied with the consistency of the baling results.

Drop Test Demonstrates Excellent Bale Integrity

To further evaluate transportation performance, the finished bales underwent a 3-meter drop test.

After three consecutive drops:

  • Bale structure remained intact

  • No major cracking occurred

  • Excellent material compression was maintained

  • Suitable for storage and transportation

These results demonstrated the machine's ability to produce dense, durable wire bales suitable for industrial recycling operations.

Technical Discussion Focused on Production Line Optimization

Beyond material testing, both teams discussed several engineering topics to optimize future production efficiency.

Topics included:

  • Hydraulic cylinder pressure acting on the compression platen

  • Integration with a 1.3 m³ feeding hopper

  • Spare parts package and inventory availability

  • Local warehouse support

  • Available after-sales technical services

  • Budget proposal for 1.5 m³ and 5 m³ centralized feeding hoppers

  • Evaluation of hopper performance for separating tangled tire wire discharged from bulk bags

  • Possibility of supplying two AMB-H1075-250 Enerpat Tire Wire Balers simultaneously using a 5 m³ twin-screw hopper with horizontal screw conveyors

These discussions laid the foundation for a more automated tire wire recycling solution capable of supporting future capacity expansion.

Continuing Technical Support Before the Next Trial

Following the visit, ENERPAT engineers immediately began preparing the requested technical information, including:

  • Hydraulic pressure calculations

  • Spare parts list and quotation

  • Hopper drawings, dimensions and power specifications

  • Local inventory confirmation

  • Recommendations for production line integration

A second round of testing is planned to further evaluate the centralized feeding system using larger hopper configurations.
